Floral Minx Nails: Miu Miu Fall 2011 Edition

I've been dying to try Minx nails ever since they hit the mainstream. Luckily, I have a guy who gets my obsession with nails and he treated me to a set a few weekends ago. Considering that I am horrifically indecisive, it didn't take me long to choose this red floral print. The louder the better with this sort of thing, right? While Connie said it reminded her of those bad Hawaiian print shirts from the '90s, I had more of a Miu Miu Fall 2011 vibe in my head. A girl can dream.

Jil Sander Fall 2011 Sweaters

Jil Sander's re-envisioned ski sweaters happened to be inspired by one of my favorite movies, Blake Edwards' The Pink Panther. One of the reasons I loved the movie so much as a kid were the costumes by Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent. While Raf Simons sent more literal translations down the runway, I was taken by these bold chunky knits. Finally, '60s Italian ski culture feels modern again.

Isabel Marant Fall 2010

Instead of the slouchy suedes and perfect studs we've seen from Isabel Marant for the past few seasons, for Fall 2010, she looked to the '50s. Her narrow, cuffed pants, tough leather jackets, and cinched waists give a bit of a rockabilly vibe. Her woman this season is more Greased Lightning than Sandra Dee, with just the right amount of femininity for those of us who want to try out the full-on leather look, but just for a day.
